Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) is a tool for collecting and recording meteorological & oceanographic data from various sensors in order to be able to assess environmental conditions and trends or environmental quality, to provide early warning indicators to port authorities, ship operators, port safety officers, and provide information to predict ship movements for the interest of the ship can be anchored safely.

An Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) is essential for conducting monitoring of the hazardous and sensitive marine environment.
